The Secret to a Good Dinner Party

The secret to a good party is Spontaneity. She is intent in alignment with desire, and impulse combined, but she has her own design. The Martha Stewart of elegant living. Where it’s okay to put plaids and florals right next to one another. Where colors take on a new aspect, and the air smells like fresh laundry on the line. Spontaneity is the hostess with the mostess.

You can’t control Spontaneity, because Spontaneity is already controlling. Like you can’t plan for Chaos, but then Chaos is much different. Chaos and Spontaneity are not the same person, although much confused with one another at times, because Chaos is Spontaneity’s much younger sister. No, Spontaneity is much more elegant than Chaos. She’s a better dresser, with her hair styled and her nails done.

Spontaneity is such a good hostess because she always has Intent right there to greet you at the door, even if you are fashionably late. And Intent is all dressed up in a butler’s outfit lookin’ so good. And there is Desire right by his side, dressed in a maid’s outfit, ready to attend. And then Intent leads you to Impulse, who’s out sitting on the porch, awaiting your arrival. And as you bask in the warm sunlight Desire serves you drinks from a silver platter making everything just right, because Spontaneity has organized this well. She’s brought just the right elements together for a good party.

But then, there’s no accounting for when Chaos will show up, she’s not on as tight a schedule as Spontaneity. She can pop in at any time, and often does. I think Chaos has a thing for Impulse, because she sure makes herself available to him. You can expect that wherever Impulse is at any given time, Chaos is there lurking in the shadows, ready to make herself known and maybe reek a little havoc.

This doesn’t always please the hostess, but then what’s she gonna do? It’s her little sister. She can’t very well keep her locked out. After all, Spontaneity is very fond of Chaos, having nurtured her so long.

I too have grown quite fond of Chaos, and would invite her if she just didn’t pop in on her own, as she always makes for an entertaining party. Besides, I think Spontaneity secretly invites her, least that’s what Impression told me. That too, is what makes Spontaneity such a good hostess. It’s in the right combination of elements, her very own patented design. Available at outlets everywhere.
